NOBLE COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD

MINUTES OF OCTOBER 26, 2016 MEETING

Present: Ray Scott, James Haddock, Doug Keenan.

The October 26, 2016 meeting of the Noble County Parks and Recreation Board was called to order at 10:05 AM by President Ray Scott.

The Minutes of the September 28, 2016 meeting were approved as sent

Old Business:

Park Board Member. We are still working on finding a Park Board member from the Ligonier area. County Councilman Tom Janes is looking into some possibilities.

Five Year Master Plan. Doug Keenan noted that the Master Plan was mentioned at an Active Living meeting in Kendallville. The trails are still a priority, and Kendallville is looking into making the city more bicycle and walking friendly.

Take a Stroll Saturdays. Possible locations for Take a Stroll Saturdays for 2017 were considered, including the path at Parkview Noble Hospital, the River Walk in Ligonier, the trail at Oak Farm School in Avilla, Hidden Diamonds Park in Albion and Fishing Line Trail in Rome City. Another canoeing/kayaking trip on the Elkhart River would also be good for 2017. Having a bird watch with Neil Case might be possible at one of the walks.

Ray Scott reported on the information kiosk at the Bixler Lake trail. The kiosk highlights the Elkhart River Water Shed, and has maps and brochures available.
