NOBLE COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD

MINUTES OF THE Sept. 27, 2017 MEETING

Present: Scott Allen, Jim Haddock, Steve Hook, Ray Scott, Guests: Matt Getts

President Ray Scott called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM.

The Minutes of the August 23, 2017 meeting were approved.

Old Business:

Five Year Master Plan – April, 20, 2019 is the due date for submission of the new Master Plan. We will begin work on the new Plan early in 2018 with the goal of having a workable version by the end of next year.

Website Review – No new information presented other than a “Stroll” update.

“Take a Stroll” Program – Our last “Stroll” offering held at Merry Lea Environmental Center netted a grand total of two participants.

Our next program will be held on Sat. Oct. 28 at the Gene Stratton Porter facility along the south shore of Sylvan Lake. We will be hiking a portion of the Noble Trails Network – the “Fishing Line Trail”. Please meet at the parking lot at 9 am. Scott Allen will serve as host. The program will run from 9 to 11 AM.

Ligonier Strawberry Valley Greenway – Ligonier Mayor Patty Fisel was unable to meet with us. Our October meeting will include a short presentation by the overseer for the trail project.

Noble Trails program -- Scott Allen shared that there will a ground breaking for a new section of the trail between Angling and Sawyer roads sometime this fall.

New Business -- None

Additional Items -- Resident Diane Scott of the West Lakes area, and a flooding victim, will be attending our next meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 11.14 AM

Next meeting – Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Noble County Public Library.
