Minutes - September 25, 2019

The Sept. 25, 2019 meeting of the Noble County Parks and Recreation Board was called to order by President Ray Scott at approximately 10:00 AM.

The Minutes of the previous meeting (August 28) were approved as sent.

Old Business:

Noble County Water Trails Plan: Continuation of discussion on the establishment of a Noble County Water Trails Plan (as part of the Master Plan). – Discussion is still in its infancy and did not develop much farther than was presented in the previous meeting’s Minutes. This takes time and patience is in order. Kenneth Hughes is forging ahead with discussions with railroad personnel regarding creation of an access site on the Elkhart South Branch that intersects with Co. Rd. 300 N located west of Albion. The area covers 13.65 acres and we would be utilizing approximately 50% of it.

There is great interest in moving forward with signage to support these properties (present and potentially future access sites) along both branches of the Elkhart River. Kyle Quandt, of NIRCC will apparently be involved in sign design and construction.

Noble Co. Outdoor Photo Contest in collaboration with KPC, CVB and the EDC. Winners of the contest will be decided in the last week of September and the 16 finalists will be declared. Their submissions will be posted on the Scrapbook page on Sunday. Citizens will then be voting on their favorite images in several categories and a People’s Choice Award(s) will be made based on that voting.
