The 2023 Noble County Parks and Recreation Fall Summit, held on October 11 at Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center, was an excellent example of how collaboration among stakeholders can lead to developing valuable initiatives for Noble County, most notably in the great outdoors! Two summits were held in 2023, in both spring and fall, made possible by a tourism grant awarded by Visit Noble County.

Local leader Grace Caswell, who serves as both the executive director of the Noble County Convention and Visitors Bureau (also known as Visit Noble County) and as an appointee to the Noble County Parks and Recreation Board of Directors (NCPB), was asked to share her thoughts about the most recent summit.

"I was hands-on in the process and think the partnership between Visit Noble County and the Parks Board is exceptional," said Caswell. "It's inspiring to see passionate individuals serve Noble County through civic engagement. The Noble County Parks Board is a testament to the power of dedicated individuals coming together to fulfill their obligations to their fellow citizens."

By bringing together individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise in outdoor recreation, education, indoor activities, and tourism, a more comprehensive approach to addressing community needs is fostered. That is the mission of the twice-each-year summits, which bring together stakeholders in outdoor recreation from all across Noble County.

Caswell was invited to participate in the Fall Summit as part of a panel of guests. She presented a writing exercise highlighting best practices for use of social media and press releases, and shared information about Visit Noble County's tourism grants program.

"Based on my experience with the NCPB, I believe this group will continue to provide exciting opportunities for community members to come together and collaborate on innovative initiatives that benefit the community," Caswell concluded.
